Hey, my name’s Ron and I’ve been trading stocks for over twenty years. I’ve seen the ups and boy have I seen the downs. The stock market rout of the 2000s and then the Great Recession of 2008-2009 were definitely something else, but each was a learning experience. You have to take a long term view, put in effort every week and believe that in 5, 10 or 20 years the economy will have grown and the world will be a better place. It’s really not that radical of a notion.
Just consider Warren Buffett. He has pretty much the same view and has been one of the world’s most successful investors. Perhaps someday your retirement account will look like his, or you just want to trade penny stocks for fun. Either way, open an account today and get started!
I’ve put this guide here together to share some of what I have learned along the way. From the basics of opening a brokerage account, to selecting an investment method and how to fund your retirement accounts. My aim is more for breadth than for depth, but you will still find some gold in here. If anything, consider it just a jumping off point for taking a more in depth look elsewhere. I can’t tell you everything about value investing or CAN-SLIM, but I can sure introduce you to them.
As you can tell, the site is definitely still just a work in progress, but progress will come. Let me know if you have any questions or want any specific topics covered and I’ll do my best to put something up. My goal is to have a little under ten pages on important topics (like the ones mentioned above). And then some bi-monthly posts on things going on in the markets, stocks that interest me etc.
Don’t let the name fool you. This site is about investing, not just short-term trading. There will be plenty of both, but the focus here is on sustainable practices. Not trying to make a million dollars in one year through trading forex, options of pink sheets.
Nice to meet you — now let’s make some money together!
